Grief

Grief.

28th of April each year is the International Day of Mourning, so what better day to talk about grief, in all its forms.

Grief is our response to loss and it’s normal and natural and it can affect every part of our life, including our thoughts, behaviours, beliefs, feelings, physical health and our relationships with others.

So it’s really important to look after yourself as it’s all too easy to neglect our own needs.

We can experience grief over the death of someone we love, loss of a home, a job, a friendship, grief doesn’t just impact us in association with death.

We can even grieve the loss of feeling safe or peace with world conflict, basically anything which is a loss in your life.

Thankfully, there are resources available to everyone to help us through and this includes Grief Australia https://www.grief.org.au/ which has a lot of resources to help you. There is also Griefline,  https://griefline.org.au/ and you can call them toll-free on 1300-845-745, 7 days a week.

Griefline isn’t a crisis-support or emergency support service and for that you should call 000, or Lifeline on 13 11 14. Kids Helpline is available to support people up to 25 years old, on 1800-551-800.

The important thing to know is that you are never alone in your grief and there are people you can talk to.

The people at Tree of Life Funerals, Batemans Bay to Narooma, understand grief and are here to help you through the hugely difficult time of organising a funeral after the death of someone you love.

Tree of Life Funerals have partnered with Picaluna Beautiful Funerals and we are changing the way funerals are done, for the better. You can call Tree of Life Funerals on 0493 276 554. We are here, for you.
