At home after death care
A gentle way of understanding and accepting the death of a person you love is to care for their body at home for anything up to 5 days. Tree of Life Funerals will support you every step of the way with keeping the body cool, to washing and dressing, and having family and friends visit to say their own goodbyes. You are not alone during this very difficult time as Lauren or one of her trusted team or associates will support you.

Tree of Life Funerals offer genuine, personal funerals, helping family, friends and the community to honour, mourn, and celebrate a life.
We do things a little differently, we see our role is to assist and empower families to farewell their deceased person in a manner aligned with their values.
No-Service, Private Service or family-led Cremation Price and Information.
Tree of Life Funerals do offer Direct Cremations, which are a no service, no attendance cremation.
The final price shown below is for a no-service cremation.
We also consult with families to provide private, family-led services or a private vigil and make all the arrangements for you, including booking the Chapel at Broulee Memorial Gardens for you for 45 minutes which costs $454.54 (ex GST). For a private vigil or family-led service, there is no Celebrant.
Additional services will attract additional fees.

Transfer from Mortuary to Crematorium | $300.00
Transfer is the transferring of the deceased from the place of death to the mortuary. This price is for a weekday transfer within a 70km radius of Batemans Bay, between 9:00am and 5:00pm; weekend and after-hours rates apply for transfers on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays and are conducted by a third-party provider. Additional rates apply for a transfer beyond a 70km radius of Batemans Bay.
Transfer by Tree of Life Funerals from the mortuary to the Crematorium is $300.00
Family-led service Funeral Arranging | $1,100.00
Chapel Hire | $454.54
Funeral arranging entails organising the transfers, meeting with the family to complete documentation, coordinating with external suppliers, attending and supporting the service with a family-led funeral, booking venues, flowers, organising the coffin, mortuary care, registering the death with The Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages.
Chapel Hire is for Broulee Memorial Gardens for 45 minutes.

A basic coffin is a minimum legal requirement in NSW. We supply Daisybox cardboard coffins as a standard for Cremations which is more eco-friendly than an MDF one. The cost includes a delivery and handling fee and a waterproof liner and a pillow.
Many other coffins availble also.
There are two certificates required for Cremation. The Medical Certificate of Cause of Death & the Attending Practitioner’s Cremation Certificate are issued at no cost if a person dies in a Hospital but the Cremation Permission is issued by a private practioner. This Fee is paid to the attending Doctor.

This fee is for essential care and mortuary cold storage which is provided by a local third-party provider which is listed on the NSW Mortuary Register within the local area, under agreement with Tree of Life Funerals (South Coast NSW) Pty Ltd and Picaluna.
The support and services provided by Picaluna allows for mortuary services, administation, invoicing and other business and services expenses, so a 30% Service Fee is applied to the wholesale cost of the no service funeral to cover these. The wholesale cost of the funeral are paid on your behalf and invoiced in a single invoice from Picaluna.

Cremation with a Funeral Service Prices & Information.
A Cremation with a service, can either have the coffin present with the cremation taking place following the funeral service, or, the cremation can take place first, followed by a memorial service at a later date. If variations in your needs occur, as in the deceased person needs to be prepared for a viewing, dressing, at-home after-death care, supply of a coffin other than the standard cardboard, and additional coffin or body transfers, this will add to the cost of the Funeral Service.

Funeral arranging entails organising the transfers, meeting with the family to complete documentation, coordinating with external suppliers, supplying music choices for the service, registering the death with the Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages, delivering the ashes back to the family.
A professional celebrant is an integral part of the funeral process. They will meet the family, learn the story of the deceased, their life and loves; then craft a personalised funeral ceremony, delivered on the day. This typically takes 10-12 hours’ work. Having a Celebrant helps the family and the community to honour and celebrate their person and mourn their death.

Funeral staff numbers on the day, vary depending on the needs of the venue, as well as numbers expected to attend. This price is for two Attendants for 2 hours.
The support and services provided by Picaluna allows for mortuary services, administation, invoicing and other business and services expenses, so a 35% Service Fee is applied to the wholesale cost of a funeral service to cover these. The wholesale costs of the funeral are paid on your behalf and invoiced in a single invoice from Picaluna.

A Burial with a graveside service. If variations in your needs occur, as in your person needs to be prepared for a viewing, dressing, at-home after-death care, supply of a coffin other than the standard cardboard, and additional coffin or body transfers, this will add to the cost. An additional fee of $400.00 is applicable for a dual service, such as a service held elsewhere, followed by a gravesite interment.
A Right of Burial, followed by an Exercise of Burial Licence at the time of burial are paid directly to the Cemetery and are additional to these costs.
Transfer is the transferring of the deceased from the place of death to their home or to the mortuary. This price is for a weekday transfer within a 70km radius of Batemans Bay, between 9:00am and 5:00pm; weekend and after-hours rates apply for transfers on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. Additional rates apply for a transfer beyond a 70km radius of Batemans Bay.
Mortuary storage | $300.00
Mortuary care includes storage, preparation of the deceased, and a coffin nameplate. The deceased’s stay at the mortuary can vary from one night, through to weeks, depending upon the individual circumstance. Extended storage over 7 days will attract additional fees. Natural burials are conducted with the deceased wearing biodegradable fabrics only. An 100% cotton shroud can be provided if you wish - please ask about cost.
Funeral arranging includes organising the transfers, meeting with the family to complete documentation, coordinating with external suppliers, arranging the funeral, registering the death with The Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages.

Important Considerations
The funerals we like to provide are customisable to suit individual preferences –we like to do things differently! There are other types of goods and services which are important to consider and of course are optional, but can be arranged for you, at additional cost.

Religious Ceremony | Typically $350 - For a religious ceremony, Clergy would replace the Celebrant. Most Clergy will provide services other than in a church.

Flowers | $At Cost
Flowers are only limited by your imagination so costs vary. You don’t need to splash out, often, flowers from your own garden are the best as they better reflect the person who has died and are very personal.
Can be either a Funeral or Death notice, both digital and print. Can be submitted to newspapers of the family’s choice.
Broulee Memorial Gardens can hire the Sidney Room to you and organise the catering – typically catering is charged on a per-head basis. There are any number of venues and catering can be arranged for you. Talk to us about your needs.
Tree of Life Funerals offers at-home after death care. Keeping the deceased at home for up to 5 days which is allowed in NSW.
The hourly rate is dependent on circumstances. An End of Life Doula provides emotional, social and spiritual support to the dying, and to those around them. They help open up the conversation about death and loss and on a more practical level, they will provide company if/when the family needs to take breaks, or help set up a community support system. They can continue to provide support to the family after their person has died.
A Basic cardboard or MDF cremation coffin is a legal requirement in NSW. We supply cardboard coffins and a Natural Calico Liner and Pillow. Other coffins are available, starting at $748.00. This cost does not include the regional delivery fee to Batemans Bay and handling and this varies due to current fuel costs.
Delivery and collection of a cardboard or Wicker coffin to your home for personalised decoration is an additional $110.00 each way and this price is for a weekday within a 70km radius of Batemans Bay, between 9:00am and 5:00pm
Direct Cremation Price and Information Guide
A Direct Cremation is a no service, no attendance cremation of the deceased, with cremation of your person taking place fairly quickly and the ashes delivered to the family following the cremation. Families often hold a memorial ceremony at a later date. If variations in your needs occur, as in your person needs to be prepared for a viewing, dressing, at-home after-death care, supply of a coffin other than the standard Bioboard, and additional coffin or body transfers, this will add to the cost of a Direct Cremation.

Eurobodalla Council manage a number of Cemeteries and prices vary at each site. Charges by Eurobodalla Council include the cost of a Plot Reservation (Right of Burial), followed by an Exercise of Burial Licence at the time of burial. Prices will be provided as part of the funeral arrangements and are paid directly to the Council. Private cemeteries have different rates. Other costs may include a Grave Marker.

It is a requirement that funeral information is provided in accordance with the Funeral Goods and Services Information Standard, contained in the Fair Trading Regulation 2019.
Transportation of the body prior to burial or cremation will be in a suitable vehicle owned by our company and will only be transported for the purposes of the funeral services as per the final agreement with the family or authorised representative of the deceased person.
In-home mortuary care, including keeping the deceased person cool for up to a period of 5 days, will be conducted entirely by Tree of Life Funerals (South Coast NSW) Pty Ltd.
If external cold storage care of the deceased person is required, this will be provided by a local third-party provider which is listed on the NSW Mortuary Register within the local area, under agreement with Tree of Life Funerals (South Coast NSW) Pty Ltd.
**Cost of Burial Plot and burial fee is additional and payable to Cemetery management and dependent on chosen site.
